Al, Isaac, and family,

We were sorry to hear about Karen's passing.  It's too close to home.  You have been in our thoughts and prayers for months and now she is at peace.  She fought a hard fight.  We are honored to have known her.

We will see you on the 17th.  Let me know if we can help you in any way over here in Seattle.

In memory of Karen  / Cece &. Bob Callison (friends)
Karen was such a wonderful person - a true joy to be around.  She was fun, outgoing, and caring of others.  Karen displayed a real calm and inner strength and in savoring life to its fullest, taught us all how to live. We count ourselves fortunate to have had the opportunity to know her.   May Karen's loved ones find strength in her strength; and comfort in her newly gained comfort.

To Al and Karen  / Lisa Tremback (Karen's Sister-In-Law )
Karen's positive approach to life has always been an uplifitng experience in our lives. In many ways, I have always felt a kindred spirit between us We both have always looked for pathways to better health and shared our findings over the years. We also both have sought G-d's ways and have shared our 'findings' there too. I will miss this sharing. She was one of those rare people who could really understand others and also be able to reach out and touch other people's lives. We will miss her greatly, though, we know, she is most definitely still with us, just on another one of G-d's paths towards home. Close

live on  / Jeanne Jendrzejewski (sister of a friend )
I am the sister of Karen's dear friend Suzanne. I have  followed her life  and her illness through my sister. I think what impressed me most about Karen was  how she helped others . Her devotion to minority  children and  minority programs has been an inspiration to others. Although she  is no longer with you, she has inspired many of you to carry on her work..and I hope that you do so  in her memory. Karen was a  really neat person. She was lucky to be married to a wonderful and devoted husband, who stood by her through all of the pain and suffering. My heart goes out  to all of you who knew and loved Karen. She would want you to  sing  at her memorial service, not to cry. Write her letters. Create little scholarships in her name. Plant a tree and watch the  branches reach out to  everyone, as did Karen. Karen's father-in-law  / Stan Bergstein (Father-in-law)
In my wanderings around the world, I have never met a woman with the boundless energy, intellectual curiosity and upbeat determination that Karen displayed constantly and endlessly.  Her goal was to help people, and she succeeded far beyond the ability most of could ever aspire to or imagine.   The gift of love she lavished on Al guided him and inspired him ane enriched his life, and her success as a devoted mother is evidenced in Isaac,a remarkable young man of poise and confidence instilled by his mother.   She lives on through Isaac, and she provided him with a legacy of her dedication and goodness  that will remain a beacon in his life.
